Well my little Chalupa got her very first period at nine months. I am told young female puppy can start her period anytime after seven months of age and usually before her first birthday she'll have had at least one heat cycle.

my chi started at 8 mon but it can happen any were from 6 to 8 monthes

I have a question... do miniature dachunds... do they have to be on their period to have puppies or can they just have puppies any time? ~Ash~

I can only speak of Chihuahuas, since that's what I know, but I'm sure most other breeds are relatively similar on this topic. Female Chi's can have their first heat cycle as early as 6 months of age, but they usually don't have the first one until sometime between 8 and 11 months of age. Then they will usually have a cycle every 6-8 months. All dogs are different though, so nothing is ever written in stone...lol.

do you suggest breeding at her fist period? or should we wait until she is older? and when during her cycle can she concieve?

Pups can go into heat from 6 months on and most vets reccommend booking them in to be spayed at 6 months. BEFORE they have their first heat.

I'm not really sure. but my chi just had her first period and is nine months old. she has also been breed (maybe} to another chi that is also 8-9 months old

My chihuahua has had her "heat cycle" and she bleeds every two hours she just got it yesterday should I call the vet or get her a diaper???????????????

My pug is now on her period and she is now bleeding ever where she goes. But you have got to help her(clean it up)but if she is potty trained you still need to clean it up.

My dog (Mya) is about 7 months old I would think that she is starting beacuse she will not eat nothing at all and I think she has Cramps in her stumpic
