I have a 1994 Jeep grand cherokee limited v.8 5.2 l that will start up  normally and after a couple of minutes it will hesitate and will shut off by itself, as i press the gas pedal it would feel like pressing air , it will get rougher and stall out.Attempting to restart it failed but after i let it take it a break for an hour or so it will startup again , just until the other day  when the alternator finally died on me wouldnt start anymore, i have replace the alternator but there's something else keeping it from functioning.
What could be the problem?

If your check engine light stays on try turning the key switch on and off 3 times leave it on the 3rd time (may take a few tries with 1 sec between then wait 10 sec to see if it flashes 2 didget codes for sensor code failures) this should show engine fault codes ( count the flashes in 2 didget form ) like 12...is have disconnected the battery, 55 is the last code, there should be some between them. My odometer on the 96 even shows didgets for the codes, if not count the flashes and refer to a service manual. The mushy gas pedal may be from the cruise system try disconnecting it from the cable going to the linkage by the gas pedal cable on the top of the engine. Hope this helps davespcrepair@hotmail.com (don't check this email everyday) but let me know?   Dave :o)
