Wie kann ich die \cite-Umgebung in Verbindung mit BibTeX automatisieren?

Ich möchte, dass beim 1. Auftreten einer Literaturangabe eine halb-ausführliche Referenz nach der Art: "Autor, Jahr, Kurztitel, Verlag, Ort" erscheint.
Danach sollte BibTeX selbständig eine Kurzreferenz "Autor Jahr" (mache ich mit \citealt*{bibref}) bzw. "Ebd." oder "Ders." (auf deutsch) einsetzt, falls angebracht.
D.h., ich möchte vermeiden, Fußnoten einzeln zu editieren. Wie lässt sich das erreichen?
