First you need to discuss your concerns with your medical doctor.  Then, he/she can refer you to a Psychiatrist or other mental health professional.  There may be a screening test done and other evaluations.  Don't wait!!  If you do have this disorder, the sooner you get treatment, the better it will be for you and the ones you love.  If you don't think you can get the help you need to ease your mind because of cost, check out programs that your local medical hospital may have to help defer the cost of treatment.  Also, check to see if there are any mental health clinics in your area or close to your area.  I hope everything goes great with you.  And, a note, if it turns out that you have this disorder, don't let it get you down, that will only make it worse.  Think of something positive that can come out of the whole situation...yes, I said positive.  There is a positive in everything if you look for it.

Ask yourself: have you had high and low moods greater than normal, do you have trouble sleeping or odd sleeping patterns, have you ever been hospitalized from a manic episode? I first realized that I was bipolar when reflecting on my strange sleeping patterns and mood swings throughout my entire life. I didn't notice any valid symptoms until about the age of 15 years old.
