The phrase "from southern Spain, across northern africa, occupying the arabian peninsula to Southeast Asia" once described the extent of the:                         A) Aztec Empire B) Pax Romana C) Gupta Empire D) Muslim World

D) the Muslim World or more appropriately, the extent of Muslim Arab conquest (from Spain to Mughal India).  The Muslim religion penetrated beyond this to central Asia.  Maybe the Eastern African seacoast could be included (ports of trade like Dar el Salaam and Zanzibar), and since the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal) are mentioned, the Balkans (Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia etc).
