I lived in H4 visa for 2 yrs. I recently obtained a job, and had applied for change of status from H4 to H1. After filing my petition, I went to india for a visit & had returned back to US on H4 visa. During my stay in india, my H4 to H1 status change had been approved against my old I-94, which i returned in airport while leaving for india. The i-94 in my passport is stamped for H4 visa. I went to SSN office & applied for SSN, stating the purpose to work in US. I got SSN..

Now whats my work eligibility? whats my visa status?

I think, the SSN would have been issued for the H1 since H4 people can not be granted SSN
