What would be the best reply to this question..."Describe how you decide what you should test given a functional specification"... also what would be a good example of "Regression testing". Thanks

If you have the functional specs doc handy decide what the main functionality is and according to that write the test scripts(automation) or test cases (manual). Before Regression Testing you should have some part of the application working as regression testing is testing that the unchanged part of the build is not affected by the changed part of the build. Before Regression testing i would strongly suggest to do unit testing.
