I have a 1993 cavalier z-24 3.1 l engine , I bought a scan tool and just used it when my check engine light came on. It said that the map sensor is putting out to much voltage? what could make this happen ? I did install a new map sensor, but the check engine light still comes on, and the scan tool still says that the problem is the map sensor? please help =)

I know this sounds funny, but trust me.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your map sensor.

It's most likely the Oxygen sensor (o2 sensor) that plugs into your exhaust manifold.  Have it replaced, clear the codes from your ECU and it should be fixed.

The ECU's in that timeframe were very strange.
