I'm 15 and in the same position. You have to work your way up to become an F1 driver. Start off by taking lessons at a driving school. Hopefully you have a road course nearby for this.
Once you have the basics you can shift to something like karting or in a very small open wheel racing series. If you show you have talent you can move up through many classes of open wheel racing such as Cart or European classes such as F3 or F2.
If you prove you have what it takes through all of this, you could be accepted by one of the lower budget teams in F1. From there you could either stay, go on to another type or racing, or move to a higher budget team such as Ferrari or Renault.

I hope that helped.

Im 16 and race a kart in a british championship. Next year ill be racing in another british championship and will be participating in a racing scholarship. In my opinion this is the best way to start, get into karting, learn how to drive, and then take part in a scholarship. The only real way to get into racing a car is either to be a multi millionare or to win one of these scholarships.
Sorry, but if your over 20 and stil not even racing formula ford or something similar, you are unlikely to become an f1 driver, but you could still make it in other forms of motorsport. If your 15, 12, 13 its not too late, but you need to get into a kart.
Good luck

Hi All
Sorry to disappoint,  but not one of you will ever become an F1 driver.
Out of the tens of thousands of racers in all types of autosport, only 20 men have the finesse to race for an F1 Team.
You need to be the best of the best, winning/doing very well in each junior racing league as you move up to F1.
EVERYONE dreams of becoming an F1 driver,  but your chances are 20 in 6 billion.
Accept the fact that you are a fan,  and enjoy the 2005 season!

Hi guy's. To become an F1 driver will require plenty of hard work and money. something which can be achieved by someone who's is definitely interested. Yes you can start by go-karting. you can do this recreationaly. this will start to give you the skills required for racing. The things you will pick up from karting will be racing lines through the corners and overtaking techniques. It is best to do as much as you can here because moving on from here is to get your MSA competition racing licence. From here you will need a lot of money. This is because you will either have to buy your own car or equipment or if for example using silverstone's cars for racing you have to pay for any damage sustained to the car. It is advised to get good at your karting and and obtain your MSA racing licence, then look out for trials that teams hold when looking for drivers. By joining a team they will have the funding and the cars, all'syou'll have to do is bring you and your skills to the track. hope this has answered most questions people have.

look you have to be super rich to become a formular 1 racer, unless you have either connections to a racer or manage to get sponsors, but its very hard to pay for fuel the car itself and pay your staff, its like your own business.

To become an F1 driver first of all you need to be physically and mentally strong. Then you just need to keep practicing and hope that someone realizes what talent you have. I am hopefully going to enter the Red Bull track attack 2007. It is go karting which is were everyone in Formula 1 starts off. Karting is expensive so really you need to get someone to sponsor you. Who knows they could see the rewards if you work hard and reach Formula 1. If i reach F1 i will open a school were people can start a career in karting.

Hello
I am 13 and I'm looking forward to this position. I have a kart that looks exactly like an F1 car. Its got a 400cc engine and can do 130km/h. I have a coach who takes me on a track. I think you should do the same. You have to exercise because if you're a little fat you are costing the team time around the track. Stay fit, do gym to get strong since the car can produce upto 5 geforces around a corner. You gotta train your neck. be focused. You can train your focusing by getting someone to throw a ball on the wall and you catch it. Then stand on a half filled ball and do the same. You'll train you're concentration levels.

yes you need to pass licence tests and try a very small league... if you can not win at the local level then higher driving isn't for you.... i recommend formula 3 where there have been more made F1 drivers than any other.. how you approach the league is up to you but costs are extremly high.... if you find yourself making good performances then GP2 or F1 could be on the way to you. It might not start off at a low team!.... but remember to become a famous footballer you need to work and can't do this over night.... to become a famous motor racer works in almost the same way....... if you want more information i'ltry and help at - sswoo1@hotmail.com! good luck to you all.

Hey guys, I too want to become an F1 driver, however, its not that easy as i am already 20 yrs old.  F1 drivers start racing very young, some such as Hamilton at 8 or 9.  Lewis Hamilton approached McLaren team boss when he was 13 and said "I want to race for you".  However it's not that easy for everyone.  As some others have suggested, you have to start at something small like karting and work your way up.  I am in no position to do that at the moment as i am studying for my degree now.  However I am hopefull that the window of opportunity will open for all of us some day. Good Luck to you all.

I won't to be a Formula 1 racer but don't know how I'm 13 and I stay in montgomery, Alabama which has no racing programs. Please send me some information as soon as possible.
