I have 1 1/2 yr old Shih Tzu,I keep her in full coat, but would like to have her groomed in a shorter cut.  However, I would like to keep her top knot, but I wonder if she would look funny.

Hi,

My dog has a really short coat.  I feel sorry for Shih Tzu with long coats in the hot summer months.  I live in New Zealand and some dogs over here have what is called a "Feathered Cut".  It looks very nice and although the fur is kept a 'medium' length it is 'feathered', much like layers which us girls might have!  All the best.

I have 2 shih-tzu's and both of them have short hair. When I take them to the groomers I don't have their tail, ears, beard, or the top of their head cut. I do trim their top-knots 2-3 times a year so that it is not too long. :)

How do I keep my shihtzu hair from forming knots. I like to keep her fur long in the winter, but it gets so knotty.
