I have a 95 Chrysler Cirrus, which suddenly wouldn't start.  I left it overnight, then it started right up next morning.  Drove around for about 3 more days then car wouldn't start again.  Took it to a shop, they said there was not spark.  They now say my distributor is bad.  They have had my car over a week and a half.  How long does it take to replace a distributor, and what else besides the above could be wrong?

Changing a distributor takes about 10 minutes if you do it yourself.  Check the error codes, check the spark plug wires for arcing, check the rotor.

I have just been told that the distributor on my 1995 Chrysler Cirrus is bad, and that the new part costs $1100!  The mechanic (who I generally do trust) said that because of distributor problems, Chrysler started incorporating the distributor into a much larger unit - and that is why the part is so expensive.  Have you heard anything about that?

yes a Distributor takes minutes to replace, as long as you know where the wires go back...but not much detail from you, but also check your battery and alternator, maybe starter...it would a cost you a hell alot less to buy a new distributor and spark plugs and install them urself...Goodluck
