I have a 2003 Toyota RAV4 with a factory rack and am considering purchasing a kayak carrier system. I'm wondering if anyone has tried using the Yakima kayak attachments that let you connect the kayak carriers directly to the factory rack. My main problem is that I want to carry two kayaks and I'm not sure if I can fit two on my factory rack. Also not sure if it the factory roof rack can withstand the weight of two boats. I searched around and found the aftermarket Yakima option which is the Lowrider. It connects to my siderails and I can also get longer cross bars to fit both kayak. However it is a bigger investment and I want the cheapest roof rack solution. This place has both Yakima kayak roof rack for Honda RAV4 solutions. You can see the Lowrider (more money) and the Mighty Mount system (cheaper for sure) there. Any insight from current users would be great!
