First of all, the fort was called Sumter so make sure your information is correct. The war started in 1861 and lasted until 1865 destroying more than 620,000 lives. And, at the battle of Sumter the only deaths were on the Union side and it was because of thier stupidity, the Confederates didn't even kill them. Post something up here any time if you want to know more about the Civil War.

there was never an american civil war.  a civil war is a war where two factions are fighting for control of a central government.  The south, in the war for southern independence was no more fighting to take over the US than the US was fighting to take over england during the revolutionary war.

. . . according to my notes the battle of fort SUMTER was April 12, 1860... not positive if that's when it started... because there's the guy who said the Civil War started in his front yard and ended in his.... I forget what it's called but it was in his house... quite odd really... considering he moved and all... but.. yeah
