My husband wants a shortwave radio to listen to   the Fundamental Broadcasting Network, a Fundamental Baptist station.  I want a good brand at a reasonable price that he can use not only at home, but on the road (he's an OTR trucker).  I have no idea where to begin.

An inexpensive, quality "Made in Japan" shortwave receiver: the Sony ICF-SW7600GR, retails for ~$130.

Radio shack made a really good portable shortwave radio. The model # is DX-390. I don't think they make it anymore but they are still available on eBay for about $40.00 or so. I had one for several years and it's a great radio at a reasonable price. Picks up stations well and if I didn't now have MUCH more expensive radios, (shortwave listening is habit forming LOL!) I would not hesitate to buy another one. Hope that helps you!
