I've been researching how to hook up a drum switch to a motor for 230VAC, and I am not finding a lot of information either.  The best I can do is to point you in this direction:

http://www.metalwebnews.com/howto/elec-mtr/elec-mtr.html

The best I can figure out for 230VAC motor operation is that one controls the coil of a motor starter with the straight through contacts of the drum switch.  The 230VAC goes through two contacts of the motor starter and then to the motor.  The other two poles of the drum switch do the wire swapping.  You'll have to look at the motor name plate to get the information on what wires get swapped.

With 115VAC, the wiring is pretty trivial.  The Straight through pole of the drum switch controls the hot leg, and the other two poles do the wire swapping.  The White wire (Assumed to be the neutral wire) needs no switching, and goes from the plug to the motor leg.
