can a female dog bear pups from more than one male in the same litter?

yes, she can.  It may be hard to determine who the father is of each pup.  Appearances is one method.  For example, if you have a white German shepherd and you mated her with another solid white, but also a solid black, then you can bet that the black male is not the father of any of the white puppies.  Yet, this is still not very reliable.

Mike is correct. Female dogs can mate with many dogs when they are in heat.
For Example:
My Labrador Retriever bred with my male labrdor, but then this pitbull mix started showing up. My male lab was very aggressive towards him and scared him off, but my female seemed to like him.

Yes it is VERY possible. There is a DNA test you can do to actually determine who the father is.

You can order it threw AKC or UKC.
