i have a compaq deskpro 2000 and have been trying to install a sound card unsuccesfully. someone informs me that because this computer was made for corporate use there is something on the mother board which prevents the installation of a sound card. how do i overcome this preventive device John G3rsd@btinternet.com

I am not 100% positive, but, what I think you need to do is: Go to control Panel and click on the System folder, click on the device manager, and because the motherboard has a sound card built into it, you may need to disable the sound device without removing it. If you try to remove it, plug and play will re-install it. I did this to a Compaq 2000 when I installed a new video card. I also had to manually select the memory addresses. Good Luck!

i have a compaq deskpro EN when i installed an internal fax modem "SoftK56 Data Fax Voice Speakerphone CARP" (Web Excel) i lost the use of the sound card. Was this internal modem not compatiable, and how do i reinstall the sound card.

On my cdeskpro2000 there isn't any sound card built in!? I need to reach the BIOS but I don't no how. can any help??? th zvezdan
