When using Vlookup in Excel and the formatting of the cell I am linking to is not exactly the same, the data shows as N/A.  To correct his I can format the cell with the same format, hit the F2 key, and then enter and the data shows properly.  How can I do this for a range of cells without having to F2 and "enter" on each individual cell?

Everytime I do a VLOOKUP, I insert a column next to the column or cell I linking to and format the entire column/cell to General.

I then use the TRIM formula, which takes out all of the hidden spaces.  I then click the lower right corner to run the formula down the entire column.  Sort the column to ascending.  And then reference to that General, TRIM, column.  Everything should work then.

The format of the cell contents and the format of the cells are two different things in Excel.  So changing the format of the cells through the "format->cells" option does not change the contents of the cell which is why you have to f2-enter on every cell.
You can quickly format a column by selecting the whole column and the clicking on "text to columns" from the "Data" menu.  Go through the wizard and when you get to the format screen you can choose the format of the cells.  To change the column to text choose the text option or to change the column to numbers (assuming that it contains valid numbers) choose "general".
