how can I tell if I have a virus, and how can I get rid of it in plain language please

You can tell you have a virus if your pc starts behaving "weird" or is REAL slow. TO remove the virus install and run a virus checker. Try www.download.com for a FREE checker. Do a web search for "virus checker".

your computer doesn't have a virus so therefore you can not get rid of it.

You can tell if your computer has a virus when it's all weird and freezes a lot. It also would go REALLY slow.
