my friend cannot use his computer at the moment because what he and i both think is a virus will not let his OS kick in. it has a picture of a moon and a sun with a loading bar in between which loads and thats it, we cannot do any more with it. please help if you know what to do.

If this is a Toshiba Laptop you may be hung in Hibernation mode.  View the following link...Go to the bottom where it says "How do I by-pass Hibernation on a Toshiba notebook stuck in Hibernation mode?"
