I am a beginner of OOP programming of C++, want to develop a programm for numerical application. I found some exist C++ library, but they have many limitations. My question is: If I develop my program, would it be better: develop upon the exist library or develop from scratch? If the formor is better, where I should start from and what kind of classes I need to modify? If the latter is better, where I should begin and how to design classes?

I personally think that when beginning programming its better to start small and from scratch.
