gman- She is helping to place dogs that were irresponsibly bred b/c someone was too lazy and cheap to pay $200 to have their dog fixed. Mutts are great pets, as are purebreds.

Go for the dog- my two get along great. We got an 8 week old female when our male was about 16 months. No issues- one is a rottweiler/boxer mix, the other a pit bull mix.

The pit bull mix DOES NOT get along with any other dog--I think she knows this is her "baby"

I have a pitt-rott mix.  He can be sweet, but you never know when he might go off.  He can not be around another dog because he does not know how to get along with one.  Sometimes he growls at me.  If somebody raised their voice at me, he will go after them.  He is extremely smart.  I have had him eight years and he's just like one of my kids.  He weighs one hundred pounds and will not sleep anywhere but in the bed with me.  If someone enters my room, he instantly jumps out of the bed growling letting them know to get out.  I do not hesitate to let people know that that is a bad mix.  Sometimes he looks like a devil.  But, I love him and would die if something happened to him. Not a recommended mix.

I have a 1 1/2 year old pit bull/boxer mix, and she is a GREAT dog. Now she gets into a lot of stuff (i.e. puppy stuff), but her temperament is great. She has two "sisters" and they all get along great. One person said these dogs are "irresponsibly bred". Well if you do a little reading the bull boxer or boxer bull breed is very HUGE in Great Britain. These dogs are very loyal to their family, great temperament, and is all around a fun dog. Look on the internet and read some of the things written about this breed. People that own this breed love them, when i get another dog i want another pit bull/ boxer mix!!!

I have a lab/Pitt mix, and 2 other dogs a chiuahuah, and a beagle. And they all get along well, the only one who ever has a temperment problem is my little ciuahuah she thinks she's a Great Dane and tries to pick on the other big dogs. My lab/pitt mix is an awesome well behaved lovable sweetie.

This is a little different but I have a boxer/springer mix 4 years old and we are currently fostering an american bull terrier/lab mix puppy 8 weeks old. I have only had the baby for about 4 days but they are getting along pretty well.  Mama dog usually doesn't get along well with other dogs at all and she still wants baby to know who's boss at times but they get along very well together.  We are thinking about adopting the baby ourselves.

There will always be happy endings and there will be not so happy endings. Seeing as your PB/Lab is female, and has a nice temperament, she may act very motherly should your new dog be a puppy. That would definitely be a happy ending. :D

However, there's always the possibility that they may just downright not like eachother. This won't necessarily result in World War III, but there is the chance they may fight. If they do fight, just take everything very slowly. Sometimes it simply won't work out at all and you'll have to find a new home for one of the dogs.

Best of luck with your new dog!

We just confiscated a black lab/ american pitbull mix from the crack heads next door. She's a jet black female, 7 to 9 weeks old. We've had a male Beagle/Boxer mix here for 5 month's named Rascal. He's about 6 month's old. But our pit/lab mix has quickly become the more dominant of the two.

Pitbulls and pitbull mixes are generally delightful dogs who love people.

I would be wary of introducing another dog, because adult pitbulls have a tendency toward dominance aggression which they direct at other  other dogs, not usually people like the media likes to report.

If you do introduce another dog it is best to do this while both dogs are young (under one year)and the other dog is very submissive, and calm, and the opposite sex of your pit/mix.

Incidentally, my 2 year old pit/lab mix,Duke, seems to get along quite well a brindle boxer male the same age. Sirus, the boxer must be a very submissive dog. He let Duke eat from his bowl in HIS back yard, and had no qualms about it. Lucky for both of them and for me, that a fight didn't break out. I would not like to be sued, and be forced to euthanize such a happy dog. Duke has been a wonderful family pet.

The older one does seem to play a bit rough with the younger but she does like having her around.  It gives her a friend when i am not able to pay attention to her at times.
