What dogs bred together to make a French bulldog?

Small examples of Emglish Bulldog were foundation stock for the breed, possibly with some French terrier blood added. They are, however, basically a small english bulldog with bat ears.

It took an English Bulldog crossed with a Pug for the final French Bulldog characteristics.
