Once on Windows 98 start up menu, what do I type after the A:\> to get 98 started?

type : -
c:/ & then press enter
then C: would be there in front of you.
just type: -
C:\win
if it dont work like this, then type: -
c:\ cd windows ( press enter)
then you will get: -
c:\windows
then type
c:\windows\win (& press enter)
your 98 will start
