What was she operated on for?

I wouldn't advise feeding only once a day, chihuahuas use up a lot of energy so they really need to eat at least twice a day.  Both mine have been free-fed dry kibble since day one, they eat until they are full, usually once in the morning and once in the evening.  Very occasionally they'll nibble a piece or two.

Your puppy is probably scarfing down as much food as he can.  As long as he isn't vomiting or passing a lot of gas, it's probably ok.  Puppies do get a rounded stomach after they eat, as long as it doesn't stay distended hours after the meal, I wouldn't worry about it.

You might want to try free-feeding so he can eat whenever he's hungry rather than having to pack it in when the food is presented.  I know a lot of people recommend putting down food once or twice a day and whatever isn't eaten is removed after 15 minutes.  I think thats silly, you wouldn't treat a human child like that, so why treat a puppy like that?

Do you mean she was operated on as to be neutered?   Dogs no longer get their periods after that operation.

Willa, you are so right!  The operation takes out the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries.  No hormones, no heat cycles.
