The longest word I'm aware of I won't even try to repeat here, but it's the chemical name of one of the proteins in DNA, and it's well over a thousand letters long. As science makes it's advances and finds new substances, it has to name them, and often these substances are named according to their chemical composition. The longest word in Webster's dictionary is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, but that's made up of six separate words; that process of combining words to describe something means that there is no longest word in the English language.
