This could happen any day now.  Please, if you're not going to breed her, have her spayed.  She'll be so much happier and in less danger of being injured by a larger dog trying to mate with her.  This also makes sure that if she is bred by a larger dog, she won't need surgery to terminate the pregnancy before she is injured carrying or trying to deliver pups that are too big.

Please, if you're going to breed her, reconsider.  Chihuahuas are among the most fragile of breeders, it's not unusual for even experienced breeders to occasionally lose the litter and/or the dam.

I'm afraid only your dog can tell you that! You some will go into heat as young as 6 months while others won't until close to a year old. If your dog is 8 months then I would expect it anytime! But make sure you don't breed her on this heat. Wait until at least the third or two years old. Chihuahuas are small dogs and that often leads to complications in labor so, if you're set on breeding her, please don't risk it until you know as much as you can about the whole process! This is for your dogs safety. There are so many little details to heat, breeding, pregnancy, whelping, and puppy care that it would take forever to type them all!! I will be happy to help with any questions you have though! stanishas@aol.com. Bye! Tanisha
