Hi you will need 1 big sheet of mdf some screws a jigsaw a sander some wood glue a measuring tape a box connector and some carpt to cover it when you have finished. all you do is depending on the size of the sub is cut out six sheets exatly the same size roghly 3" bigger than a sub so if ur using a 15" sub cut the sheets 19" x 19" square then cut out the sub hole and the port holes glue and screw together in to a box then carpet it what ever colour u want put the connector box on put the port hole covers on and there you have it but bare in mind this is a basic bassbox with practice you can build any install have fun

the ideal material needed to make a bass box is MDF which yo can get at B&Q or any diy store but it should be at least a cm wide.it has to be well fitted together but does not have to be sound proof as it will sound muffled and will be a waste.

I assume you are talking about a subwoofer enclosure, if so, MDF material is known to be the best and most practical for bass boxes.

Regarding your latter issue, you need to know that there are three different subwoofer enclosures (to my knowledge atleast):

1- Bandbass
2- Ported
3- Sealed

Each have different characteristics and produce different sound (frequency). If you need deep bass, I would go for a sealed one, but it must be designed accurately for its dimensions and internal volume which affects the bass.

Please note that my answer is a very general oversimplified one. There are many factors in designing the box.

Thank you.
