My cat Cy died Monday night. I found him laying behind our big screen TV. It looked like he just laid down to go to sleep and never woke up. When I found him he was already rock hard. It was horrible. He looked so peaceful. The people I live with said that he was fine just an hour before I got home from work. What could have happened to him? There wasn't any blood, saliva or anything odd when I found him. He never chewed on wires therefore I don't think he was electrocuted. Can someone please help me??? What could have happened to my cat? What could have killed him so quickly? Is this a sign from so karma-netic force that something bad is going to happen to me? If you have any answers I'd love to hear them. Thank you.

I found my cat who was only a few
months old - lying on the ground with
her paws out - there was only a little
blood in her mouth and not any on her
body - what was strange is that she
felt half her weight and she was
completely clean, her fur smelled fresh
and her body was not hard after being
lying on the ground for three days -
very strange

Lizzie:

My cat had an embolism here recently.  It's painless and extremely fast, I know, I saw how fast she went.

Also, when did you go looking for him?  You see, in humans, it takes 2-4 hours for rigor mortis to set in, so I'm wondering if he was really "okay" when when the people you "live with" saw him.

Also, cats typically don't hide unless they're not feeling well. My cat just came out of my bedroom, let out the most God awful cry and just ended up rolling over on her side.  After that, she was gone.

I don't know - we live in the same pit. My Moria died today by a reason I'll probably never know. Fingers all around point to poisioning while others lead to being hit by a car or her eating something she thought was good for her. ... I wish I could help you, but it seems that I'm lost in the dark, myself.

It sounds like you were very attached to your cat but my best advice would be to try and move on and maybe get another cat, I had a cat who ran away and its horrible not really knowing what happened to him but I got another kitten and now I'mhappier than ever, he's really cheered me up.

my matty died suddenly on may 11 2005,i asked for an autopsy ,as he hadn't shown any signs of being sick,he just went back to his shoe pile and died.Vet said cardiomyopathy, was the cause.I am devistated, and now my Koi-paralytic ileus, and The Greeter.pancreatitis, have just been diagnosed. The Greeter has a feeding tube in place, but neither he nor Koi are the same wonderful and loving babies they used to be.Naturally my husb wants everything done,I am a R.N. and am open to kitty hospice.Any responses ?

It depends on the age of your cat. If it was old, he may have had internal problems caused by aging that can last over long periods without symptoms...

Was there anything poison he could've gotten into? Had he always been healthy? Did he have all his shots? Was he wormed?

Anything could be a factor in death. It's even been speculated that cats can die from SIDS...the same syndrome human infants die of.

We found our cat dead on my daughters bed Thursday afternoon. He was laying in the same position that he always did when he slept. He had been absolutely fine so we are unsure of why he died. He was not that old, he was 10. The vet said my cat may have died from a blood clot, maybe your cat did too? I thought maybe my cat had a heart attack because he was over weight but the vet said that cats don't have heart attacks, at least it's very unheard of. My cat was an inside cat so I know he didn't eat anything he shouldn't have. Was your cat an inside cat or did he go out? I can't believe how in considerate people can be. The person who made the comment about killing cats must be a very troubled, cold person and I hope he gets some help!!!
