I would like to know in India is it important in which nostril (left or right) do they put the nose piercing? Or is it just as one likes?
Thank you for your help.

no, it isn't "traditionally, the left nostril." in different parts of India it is done on different sides, in the south it is done on the right and in the north it is done on the left (generally speaking).

In India, mainly it depends upon the region whether left or right nostril is pierced, though mostly it is the left nostril. In north India and in south west India invariably left nostril is pierced, where as in south east India, it is the right nostril which is popular. About 90% of women in India pierce their nose on the left side. But men dont pierce their nose. It is only very very recently you find men wearing nostril studs or rings, that too very rare.
