Where do you live, Jessal??  In Canada, it goes on your record as a non-moving violation and is recorded on your motor vehicle abstract which is then used when applying for car insurance.  You would have a ticket on your "MVR" so best to fight the ticket - don't pay a ticket unless you've gone to court. Once you pay a ticket, this is when it shows up on your MVR. ; )

In Canada, it is now considered a MOVING violation and will cost points on your licence. Other Provinces and northern States are currently doing the same thing.
