Yes! There are many Schutzhund titled dogs that are the best children's companions ever.

Almost all dogs make good pets. But you have to train dogs to be nice to children. It would be better to get a puppy, instead of a full-grown dog. German Shepherds are considered guard dogs and working dogs. I have a German Shepherd/Beagle cross, and she is very sweet. So you could probably get just about any dog and train he/she to be nice to children, although in my experience it's easier to train smaller breeds to be nice to children. If your looking for a good, gentle yet playful puppy, get he/she from a owner who breeds dogs. DON'T GET A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE. Pet stores buy their puppies from puppy mills, and puppy mills are horrible places with horrible conditions for dogs and puppies. They don't even know if the puppies that they get are really a purebred or not! Plus, they're super expensive. It's cheaper to get them from an owner or the humane society (and a lot nicer, too). I hope this information helps you. Good luck!
