Proberly a common question! I recently had 14 g spike out in the top of both ears. One barely hurt when pierced and is healing fine but the other, which hurt a lot, is sore and the whole top part of my ear is red. I am rotating the spikes twice a day and each time on that side the jewelry has 'healed' into the wound and I have to force it to move, which makes a painful little pop when it finally does come loose. Because they are so fresh the pain doesn't bother me except that it is on one side but not the other, which seems a little strange.
