Where does the term "lick" come from? I know it's about getting money, but my impression was that it was about getting it in an underhanded way. Twista, though, uses it as just a term for getting money (listen to the "lovely day" song on the new cd)  and not necessarily jacking someone or through crime.

To "do a lick" or "lick" someone is the same as getting "beat" or ripped-off. Like the old days when kids would fight. One would lose, meaning he got "licked".

"Lick,"  as in "...hit a lick," or "...hit that lick,"  means to make a sale.  For example, when drug dealers make a sale they are said to have "hit a lick," or when a potential customer is approaching,"here comes a lick."  Also used to describe a sexual customer. E.g,, a female may say, "I'm broke as hell right now, but I'll be alright after I hit this quick lick."  Aight?  Get it?  Got it?  Good!

To "Hit a Lick" is to come out on top, for instance, if I buy a quarter pound(112-120 grams) of reefer for $120-$150 and sell all of it through 7 gram "Quarter bags"($20 bag) then I 'Hit a Lick' because I spent $120-$150 and made $320. Thats $170-$200 profit... Now thats a Lick(a deal). comprende?
