My  1 year old  tabby  male  does the same thing. We've just nicknamed him Whiney, he  just talks to us all day long. We think it's cute, and I've actually  gotten to where I can get  him to  "talk" on command. Makes for some fun at our local PetsMart.

You're cat meows because he isn't neutered. He has an instinct to be outside and to mate. Once he is neutered he will probably stop. But, if he doesn't it could be out of pure boredom. Cats who are inside cats in small spaces gets bored and needs to burn off energy. Try to schedule playtime once or twice a day. Keep it at the same time every day. It'll become routine and they'll look forward to it. They'll forget about meowing all the time.

i have a male cat who also cries most of the time, usually when he is looking at his reflection in a mirror or window.  At other times he cries for no good reason i am guessing just to be heard, i have not found a good soulution yet, i have been meaning to buy a water bottle to try spraying him when he cries but this just seems mean their has to be a better solution, if anyone knows a better way to stop the crying let us know, i live in an apartment and get no sleep at night because my cat stays up and cries

he probably wants attention, play with him abit everyday... if you could get  ascratching post it would help him if he was bored. do not spray water on your cat this will scare him, he will not trust you

take him to the vet.  he is trying to tell you something.  DO NOT SPRAY YOUR CAT WITH WATER.   You are just making the cat not trust you and it is not helping him.  Anyone who sprays a cat, or anything like that, should not be allowed to have animals.

ritageoss2...you idiot.

To answer your question Kimmie, cats cry for lots of different reasons but if you notice him doing it mostly when you're around, chances are it's for attention. Just try your hardest not to give him attention, then reward him when he calms down. Hope that helps!

PS NEVER spray them. It scares them and they'll grow up to be extremely timid. Which is not a good thing.
