My purebred golden retriever has a small amount of white on his right paw along with a small line of white on his chest? I did not get the puppy with papers but did see the parents. Could these white marks mean hes not purebred or just not show quality??

Nikki,

It is common for Golden Retrievers to have a few white hairs on the chest. The early North American Goldens did indeed have that little dash of white on the chest. Check out some of the books that contain some historical photos. The Fischer book is a good place to start.

The white tips on a toe or two will usually disappear as the pup grows, matures and the adult coat starts to come in.

can you explain brief differences between british white golden retrievers and American golden. Ex bone structure, face shape, skin and hair color, and the appearance of British whites to have shorter legs.
