Hi,
what's the best image compression software you use besides Photoshop, Image Ready and Firework?

If you want just to compress an image you do not need such a big program like Photoshop. There is so many little programs which may do it quickly. You can do it even in Paintbrush, but it's a worst way (bad quality). I often use ACDSee - it works good and have browser where you cant select many files and to convert them all at once. Another good program is IrfanView (or I View 32). It is freeware which works fine, very small, have some filters and effects, but there is no browser and you have to work with each file independently. FIREWORKS!  It will compress your raster graphics to jpeg format with at least half the file size of a document compressed in Photoshop.

Best thing to do is take the original uncompressed image (BMP for example) and compress it to PNG format.  Virtually no loss in color or quality, and very small, unlike compressing the same BMP to JPG.  You will notice.  Irfanview is excellent for this like the other dude said :)

of the three, i would not prefer either. I use Optimize Compression tool to do my image compression for all my images on my site. The site is www.optimizehosting.com Its a great tool and i am not advertising it. I like it because you not have to be experience to use the software.

Try the new one. It's called Image Compressor. http://www.download.com/Image-Compressor/3000-12511_4-10582331.html?tag=lst-2-10

Might not create the smallest file, but it will not decrease the visible quality.
