In what order did these events take place (which one began first)reggeae,ska,mento and rock steady

ska, then rock steady nad then reggae.. i dono abt mento

It goes in this order: mento -> ska -> rocksteady -> reggae Although mento came around long before ska. Rocksteady and reggae are direct descendents of ska. Ska came into being circa 1960, rocksteady 1965, and reggae 1969. I can't remember when mento came around, but it was old traditional Jamaican music and not pop music like the other three
