I've recently purchased a 1976 Rickenbacker 4001 bass. How do I adjust the action?(it has a double truss rod system)

- remove the truss rod cover - detune the strings(about 8 turns each) - place body of bass between ankles on pillow - place tension rod adjuster on bass side rod - carefully and gently - hold neck at nut to increase neck tension - loosen rod nut slightly (counterclock) - then tighten 1 quarter turn (clockwise) - do not loosen hold of neck tension - repeat for G string side rod - gently release tension hold (ankle-hand) - check relief by looking through bridge->nut - tune strings & replace rod cover - repeat if necessary
