what is androgen, what causes it to produce over excessive amounts, what happens when there is too much and how can it be stopped to the normal amount needed in the body

Hello there i am wanting a bit of advice about imbalalnced hormones.
From the age of 16 i have been taking hormonal tablets to start my period and i am very worried that i have to do this for the rest of my life!!!I do not get my periods unless i take medication, is there a cure for this and why is this happening to me?
please can you give me some advice and help!!!
