I just bought a border collie from a breeder. I have some concerns that she might not be full border collie. She has the correct markings but has shorter hair than most I've seen.  Do some have short hair?

Yes there is a variety of different coat lengths you will see... some are very heavy coated (rough) and others are very smooth and sleek with hardly any fringes at all. (smooth) And all the combinations of these two variations in between

I have a pure-bred short-haired border collie, myself. Yes, it is a real breed. :D And just the most gorgeous, loyal, intellegent and good-tempered breed of dog you can find. :D But, then again, I may be biased. lol.

Here's my dog if you were interested in comparing:
