there are many effects of the civil war like, after the war the south had many bitter feelings about the war and the kkk came to be.  Some other effects the civil war had was inflation and after that money wasn't worth as much as it was before.  The south was in ruins because most of the biggest battles were in the south because the south played defense and the north played offense except the battle of Gettysburg that  was the only battle that the south attacked and the north defended.  That is the only reason why the war lasted so long because the north had a lot more supplies and people and the north knew the short cuts and were more experienced.  After the civil  war was over some of the slaves didn't know what to do so they went back to the same farm they worked on and got payed.  The south was placed under military rule and moved into districts and they had to reapply into the Union.  The nation was reunited and the southern states were not able to secede.

Some effects of the Civil War weren'tjust economically, but personal to. Some soldiers didn't know what to expect when they got home to their families, and to see how disappointed their families were. A lot of families that lost someone special to them during the war had to start to rebuild their life from scratch. It was not easy, but tough. The War also caused 280,000 confederate soldiers their lives, and that made the population of the Union drop. Even today in the present life, people are still mad about the choices that Lincoln made, and how it was dealt with.

Effects of the Civil War were many.We had reconstruction period, as well as amendments, economic struggles, congressional reconstruction, and presidential reconstruction. The Norths triumph over the south put an end to slaver-on paper-and the south's succeeding from the union. Also Reconstruction would be the biggest hurdle to overcome that would roughly take 12 years.-Most areas of the south were untouched by military force, but the issues of post war were severe.Buildings & homes were burned, RR track's destroyed, cotton gins wrecked, and land torched. All of this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Effects of the Civil War are like ripples on a pond, from a single splash many shock waves cause events and situation not contimplated.First the Civil War's end releases over 3,5000,000 African Americans into a hostile competitive world, for which they have not been prepared. The Law of the Land, the U.S. Constitution is amended three time to assist to their transition into the citizenry, the 13th amendments abolishes slavery, the 14th amendments gives them civil-rights, and the 15th amendment gives them the vote. One must also remember that the Reconstruction governments that lasted 12 years, while reorganizing some southern states for re admittance into the Union generally failed because the Black Codes and the later Jim Crow law landed the African Americans back into a subordinate servile situation that led to segregation, race riots and a civil rights movement that has now born real fruit in America.Further effects of the Civil war are the economics ones felt differently on each side. For the South economic devastation only begins to explain the terrible financial burden brought on by the war that took decades to over come. For the North, increased industrial output brought on by the war, stimulated her industrial base
which made fortunes for the industrialist. Wages however did not increase so most northerners did not share in the wealth. Modernization of industry, transportation and communication were all positively effected in the North. Finally the age old question since this country's beginning is who should be supreme. The States or the Federal Government. The Civil war answered this question once and for all. It is the test that proved the power and authority rest in Federalism.

There are many affects on the civil war. The Ku Klux Klan, segragation, radical Republicans, and many more. It was hard for the north to go on with the civil war because so many people were against it in the south.

The Civil War had many effects on different areas such as economic, personal,  natural, and industrial. Economic effects were excrutiating to the south, since it hit them the most. Most southerners' prides were hurt by losing horribly to the north, because in the beginning of the war, the south thought that they were going to win easily. Battles had great effects on nature, from cemeteries to burnt trees and fields. Most of the south's crops were no more, especially after the raids of General Sherman. Industrial effects were negative, especially in the south, where most of their money-making crops were destroyed. The north had almost no struggle, since their industrial strength was already strong. Overall, both sides lost many lives and money, but the south got it the worst.

The influence the KKK had on the civil was to me wasn't very powerful. I beleive that the Klan wasn't very convincing to the north in any way and it could have influenced the south to some degree but for the most part the Klan was just a big meaningless angerd group of racist men.

the causes of the civil was that there a myriad number of problems, principles, and fuels that the states was going through for almost 2 decades.  at the root of all problems was slavery.  the north didn't want slavery and the south did.  then Lincoln came out with emancipation proclamation and that angered the southerner slave holders and then they went to war.  about 40 year after the war between the states all slaves were free but still not given any equal rights as white people.  thank you for what i think happened.

In terms of economy, the war caused a wide destruction to the South. The Confederate states lost two-thirds of their wealth, thousands of good farmland were been destroyed as well as many plantations and railroad lines. The northern economy increased by 50%, but the southern wealth decreased a 60%.                                                                                                  The war touched the lives of almost every person in the United States. Women assumed larger responsibilities because they labored as nurses, government clerks, and factory workers and in many other ways. The war opened opportunities for work outside the household.
As a result, the nation was reunited and the southern states were not allowed to secede. Slavery was effectively ended.

The effects of the Civil War were the South attacked the Battle Of Gettysburg,Battle Of New Orleans, and communications in the North. The North had trouble communicating along with Transportation. The Battle Of Gettysburg would last very long because the North had more supplies. Lastly, Jackson's troop defeated the Battle Of New Orleans.

Another effect of the Civil War on the South was the loss of Southern arable land.  Because Southerners had farmed cotton for generations, their soil was pretty much shot, and that land was unfit to farm any more.  This increased the already prevalent poverty in the South, meaning that Southerners had no livelihood to return to, even if they had the money to do so.

After the Civil War conditions were bad for both Southern blacks and Southern whites. There were 4 million black men and women emerging from bondage.  They began forming all black communities, freeing themselves from white control. But in 1865, Southern state legislatures began enacting sets of laws called Black Codes. These laws authorized local officials to apprehend unemployed blacks, fine them for vagrancy and hire them out to private employers to satisfy their fine.  Some codes allowed blacks to only take jobs as plantation workers or servants. The South found a way to go back to slavery without breaking the new laws. In 1866, Congress passed the first Civil Rights Act, which declared blacks as citizens of the United States which allowed the federal government to intervene in state affairs when necessary to protect the rights of the citizens. Then in June of 1866, Congress approved the 14th Amendment which states that everyone born in the United States, and everyone naturalized was automatically a citizen and entitled to equal protection by both state and national government.
Even though slavery was abolished and blacks were, at least by law, free and considered equal, they still did not have the same rights and opportunities as white people. In February of 1869, Congress passed the 15th Amendment. The Amendment attempts to ensure black voting rights by stipulating that voting rights cannot be denied on the basis of race, color, or previous servitude.  But yet it did nothing to allow the Southern whites to prevent blacks from voting.  Since blacks were not educated and did not own property or have the money to pay poll taxes it made it almost impossible for blacks to vote.
There was a dramatic improvement in southern education. By 1870 reformers established 4,000 schools for former slaves. Efforts to integrate schools were a failure. All black schools were open to all races but whites chose to stay away.  Most blacks did not own land. By 1865 the Freedman’s Bureau distributed land from abandoned plantations to 10,000 black families, but when the original white owners returned they wanted their land back and most of it was returned. Even though blacks were working, most of them still remained in poverty. They worked shorter days and women and children were less likely to work like they did in the past as slaves.  Black families were struggling to rebuild family structures. Many traveled through the south searching for lost relatives. Many black women worked for wages as domestic servants to make the extra money their family needed to live.  Blacks weren’t still completely free. They were doing jobs they had done before, but now they were receiving compensation in ways for their services.
White supremacy groups posed a major threat on the blacks free way of life. The Klu Klux Klan, which began in 1865 in Tennessee, murdered many blacks whose only crime was the desire to vote.  The Klan would inflict vengeance on colored citizens by breaking into their homes in the dead of night, dragging them out of their beds, torture them in inhuman ways and most instances murder them mainly for their political affiliations.  Each member of the Klan must furnish himself with a pistol, gown, and a signal instrument which was part of the Klan’s constitution and bylaws each member abided by.
Blacks may have been told that they were receiving their freedom after the Civil War, but in all reality they had just as many, if not even more obstacles to face as when they were slaves. They had to deal with issues that had never affected them before. The fact that most blacks were not educated did not help their situation at all. They had to compete with educated white people for jobs and without any training in anything but servitude they did not have a high chance of getting the job.
Before slavery was abolished, blacks may have not have been treated as human beings, but they were treated relatively well considering they were someone’s property and people tend to take care of things that hold value and are of good use. When freedom was granted to the slaves, they were no longer property and therefore no longer worth anything to the former slave owners. In every which way the South tried to get back to the ways of slavery. Blacks also faced the dark problem of hate crimes and white supremacy. Blacks never actually gained their freedom for years to come. Freedom is the lack of restrictions, but blacks were still being told what they can and cannot do or where they can and cannot go. The law stated that blacks were allowed to vote but made it almost impossible for them to actually do so. The blacks were given land then had it taken away from them when the whites who abandoned that land came back to claim it. It was a struggle for a former slave to begin an actual life for them or their families. Blacks were not given the opportunities and the chance at the new life that they were promised.

White Southerners lost their plantation labor system and their huge investment in slaves. White Southerners lost their plantation labor system and their huge investment in slaves.  The Northeast’s economic dominance was secured by the war, and the war seems to have sped Northern economic development. Northern women saw new possibilities open up during and after the war. In wartime they often took jobs previously done by men on farms and in factories, and thousands served in the Union nursing corps. Partly as a result, postwar women’s political and reform groups were larger and more militant than the groups that preceded them. The Civil War was a watershed in the history of African Americans. The war permanently ended slavery. At the same time, it raised questions about the economic, social, and political place of African Americans in the United States.

Hope that helps, senors y senoritas.

The effects of the war were the reconstruction of the south.  There would not be another southern president until Woodrow Wilson, and there would not be a DEEP SOUTHERN president until Dwight Eisenhower.  Over 40 percent of the Southern states live stock was killed.  There houses were burned, orchards robbed, women raped, and the absurdity of kids as young as 11!!!Years old fighting a war for an ambitious man with higher powers.  The inflation kicked in for example a yard of calicoes went from 50cents a yard up to 20 dollars a yard Southerners had to replace many simple items such as Mocha and Java with Wheat, Rye and other miscellaneous items.  The Republicans used their victory against the democrats for years in the oval office.  AND TO KNOW THE TRUTH this war was not fought just over slavery it was fought over industrialization The south was putting out 3/4's of the cotton to Great Britain and France. That’s why the Yankees put a Blockade up in order to stop the Southern Gentlemen’s shipment of goods to these countries there for they won the war on a basis of financial situations JUST TO LET YOU KNOW the Confederacy had way more experience then the Union the Confederate boys were hiding behind trees and such forth while the Yanks were just standing in the broad open. Oh Yeah for every one Confederate casualty of war there were 2 that died of starvation or sickness and disease.

The effects of the Civil War in the North were positive but, in the South they were negative. The North had more resources such as,coal,iron,cloth-ing,weapons,and shoes. Also the North exports to Europe were doubled. The North economy grew stronger while, the South weaken. The South had less resources and had to follow the North's rules and couldn't secede from the Union.

The civil war was very effective on many levels. The south was completly destroyed and many were left without homes. Also african americans were not prepared for the "real world" The north actually gained from the war because southeners traviled upward and notherners came down for the bissness. The war in my opinion was very destructive and hurt many people.

there are many effects of the civil war like, after the war the south had many bitter feelings about the war and the KKK came to be.

The civil war affected the south food wise.. as well as everywhere else.  The food rations and money.. buying a pound of bacon was more expensive than buying a pig! (gosh, feed for all food)
the fact of what I'm trying to get to is... is how this war affected the overall cooking in the south (this would be my research topic) and how it still stands strongly today... the south didn't really rely on imports they got what was a natural resource around them.. such as fish and lots of vegetables.. chicken[yummy]
They used what they had to.. not what they needed and when they needed something they would make it, or if the absolutely HAD to, they would import it.. but their economy mostly survived on exports

Sometime in May, the KKK had come together and cause multiple problems due to their racism. (i will continue this later....)

The civil war was the most tragic war in all of history. More people died then in all the other wars. Brothers fought against brothers.
Then the nation was really torn apart. Brothers fought against brothers even if they didn't want to. They had no choice.
A. The nation was reunited and the southern states were not allowed to (secede) which means to leave the union.
B. The South was placed under military rule and divided into military districts. Southern states then had to apply for readmission to the Union.
C. The Federal government proved itself supreme over the states. Essentially this was a war over states rights and federalism and the victor was the power of the national government.
D. Slavery was effectively ended. While slavery was not officially outlawed until the passage of the 13th amendment, the slaves were set free upon the end of the war.
E. Reconstruction, the plan to rebuild America after the war, began.
F. Industrialism began as a result of the increase in wartime production and the development of new technologies.

I personal think that it was probably hard on Lincoln, the soldiers, and citizens because they had to rebuild the railroad tracks and wih out the railroad tracks their will be no goods from other contries and they probably were very poor becuse the army bured everything that got in their way. It was hard on the soliers because now they have to give up slavery and reunite with the northerns. The     were a major problem they were rebels. Lincoln was most     d by soe of the southerners because he killed a lot of peoples.

Some effects of the Civil War weren'tjusteconomically, but personal to.

Although the fighting of the American Civil War ended more than 140 years ago in the village of Appomattox, sshockwavesof the five-year disaster are still felt today. Not only are we so emotionally touched by the stories of those who lost their lives to the war, but it has also had such a lasting affect on our country; politically, socially, and economically.
The economy of our nation was in shambles after the war. Inflation continued to increase, as depression and starvation spread throughout the nation, particularly the South. Because the North took an offensive side on the war, they were able to cause severe damage to the Confederates, and it took decades for the South to recover from the destruction.
Another aspect of the war that made it such an important event in our nation’s history was the extremely high casualty rate. More than 625,000 lives were lost by the end of the war. Over 400,000 of those deaths resulted from infections, diseases, and starvation. At the same time, 3.5 million African Americans were freed from the depths of slavery, and the Union had been preserved. It seemed like the war was a success, but was it worth it for our country to endure such hardship?
Whether or not the Civil War was worth the price is a matter of perspective. Personally, I believe that the war was certainly worth it. However, if you were someone who had a family member who died in the war, you may think otherwise. You must also ask yourself: Was there any alternative to war, other than agreeing to secession? I think that the only way we could have achieved the nation we live in today was through war. Our country lost it’s unity, and suffered heavy loss. Eventually, we recovered proving to the rest of the world that we could overcome the most difficult of times. Not only has our nation benefited from the positive effects of the Civil War, but so has the rest of the world. As one entity, the United States has become the strongest nation on the planet, making our world more free, and a better place to live.

The Civil War had so many effects on the entire country. There were hurt feelings between the North and South, the KKK was established, and reconstruction. Reconstruction was politically, economically, physically, and psychologically handled. Plus there were so many prejudices against African Americans, such as black codes, "Jim Crowe" Laws, and segregation. The civil war really did have a huge impact on our country today.

I think that the war was a bit pointless, 600,000 men dead crops destroyed angers flared and people assassinated. Slavery was bad, men were even so greedy for money they made dungeons in the ground were they put slaves who didn't obey, and left them there to die. It would be bad if it didn't happen however, america split in two, would have taken longer for us to progress, there would still be slavery. The war was bad. But some outcomes were good. My opinion, the north was in the right.

The effects of the Civil War were many.  One of the biggest effects of the war was colossal national debt.  Compared to previous wars, the Civil War's cost skyrocketed, sending the nation into massive debt.  Also, the war caused tremendous loss of life.  Approximately 620,000 soldiers lost their life during the four year war, not to mention the innocent citzens that lost their lives in sieges.  Another effect of the war was a sense of separation in the nation.  People from north or south looked upon the other as slightly different, and the nation was not unified as a whole.  These are just a few of the effects that the Civil War had on the United States of America

The Civil War was caused by a myraid of conflicting pressures, principles, and prejudices, feuled by sectional differences and pride, and set into motion by a most unlikely set of political events. At the root of all problems was the institution of slavery, which had been introduced into North America in early colonial times. The civil war started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states of the national government to prohibit slavery int the territories that had not yet become states. As a result thousands of people lost their lives. Some lost their home, and everything they had. It was a sad depressing time for most people.

The Civil War had a huge impact on the United States as we know it today. The South separated or seceded from the United States. The country was divided into two parts, the North and the South. The northern states were known as the Union and the southern states were know as the Confederate States. The Nation split over the issue of slavery. The North took a antislavery stance and the South wanted slavery. When Abraham Lincoln was elected President, the South became upset and chose to secede from the United States because of Lincoln and the North's antislavery view point.

If the South won the war, our nation today would be split in two. The North would probably be known as the United States of America and the South would be known as the Confederate States of America. We know this is not the case though. The North won the war and by defeating the Confederate States, the United States once again became one country. Becoming one country again was not as simple as winning the war though.

In the twelve years following the war, from 1865 to 1877, the Nation had to be rebuilt or reconstructed. This twelve year period is known as the Reconstruction. The Civil War had destroyed much of the South and many people were killed. During the Reconstruction, the government planned to reorganize and rebuild the South. The government wanted to help the freed slaves gain their own lives and land. The United States wanted to bring the country back together. During this period many rights of African Americans were granted and restricted. The Reconstruction ended, after much disagreement between the North and the South, with the Compromise of 1877.

Overview
The Civil War was perhaps the most momentous event in American history. The survival of the United States as one nation was at risk and on the outcome of the war depended the nation's ability to bring to reality the ideals of liberty, equality, justice, and human dignity.
The war put constitutional government to its severest test as a long festering debate over the power of the federal government versus state rights reached a climax. Its enormously bloody outcome preserved the Union while releasing not only four million African Americans but the entire nation from the oppressive weight of slavery.
The war can be studied in several ways: as the final, violent phase in a conflict of two regional subcultures; as the breakdown of a democratic political system; as the climax of several decades of social reform; and as a pivotal chapter in American racial history. In studying the Civil War, students have many opportunities to study heroism and cowardice, triumph and tragedy, and hardship, pain, grief, and death wrought by conflict. Another important topic is how the war necessarily obliged both northern and southern women and children to adapt to new and unsettling situations.
As important as the war itself, once the Union prevailed, was the tangled problem of Reconstruction. Through examining the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments--fundamental revisions of the Constitution--students can see how African Americans hoped for full equality as did many white lawmakers. They can assess the various plans for Reconstruction that were contested passionately. The retreat from Radical Reconstruction--the first attempt at establishing a biracial democracy--should be of concern to all students who need to understand how shared values of the North and South sharply limited support for social and racial democratization. The enduring republican belief in the need to respect local control made direction by central government power unpopular. Northerners, like southerners, did not support schemes to redistribute wealth under Reconstruction because of the need to protect private property. Northerners, like southerners, believed in the social inferiority of blacks.
Students should learn how southern white resistance and the withdrawal of federal supervision resulted in the "redemption" of the South through the disfranchisement of African Americans, the end of their involvement in Reconstruction state legislatures, greater racial separation, the rise of white intimidation and violence, and the creation of black rural peonage.
Balancing the success and failures of Reconstruction should test the abilities of all students. Too much stress on the unfinished agenda of the period can obscure the great changes actually wrought. Moreover, it needs to be remembered how most white Americans were diverted from completing Reconstruction toward new goals brought about by social change. A new generation sought new fields of endeavor afforded by industrialization. They were not imbued by the reformist idealism of their predecessors. Indeed, they were receptive to new doctrines of racial and social inequality. The legacies of the era of war and reconstruction needs to be considered with reference to the North and West as well as the South.

The civil war affected the humans by stopping cargo because of blockades so people started starving.  The slaves were delayed from their work because battles were taking place near the plantations they worked on.

What ya'llare failing to see is the good effects the Civil War had on the nation!
The abolition of slavery was one of the outcomes. Now that slavery was gone, the Declaration of Indpendence was true to its statement that All Men are created equal. The U.S. looked better in the eyes of other countries, and the road to Reconstruction was paved. The permanance of the Union was also another outcome. Like Abraham Lincoln said, "a house divided against itself cannot stand."

i think there were many many effects, such as Effects of the Civil War are like ripples on a pond, from a single splash many shock waves cause events and situation not contimplated.First the Civil War's end releases over 3,5000,000 African Americans into a hostile competitive world, for which they have not been prepared.

Inflation occured at an alarmingly fast rate, which caused many buisinesses to raise the prices on all of their products.  By the end of the Civil War, many people thought that money was so useless, that it would serve better to bandage their wounds or use as wallpaper!

2. There was a 9,000% inflation rate in the South and an 80% inflation rate in the north.
3.African Americans gained citizenship and voting rights.

5. The KKK was established.
6. The war spurred industry. Industrialism began as a result of the increase in wartime production and the development of new technology.
