Hey Preethi,
I'd suggest that you start working for a company as a trainee test engineer. You should be quite ok with on-the-job training to start of with. After about 2 years, you could think of a certification.  Maybe 6 months prior to the exams, you could start getting details of the exam.
As for opportunities, things look good now.
Nope, its not mandatory that C++ knowledge be good. Its more of interest, eye-for-detail and aptitude that would matter.

Hope this helps

Hi preethi,

Your choice is correct and you can go a head for testing course. But my strong advice is being perfect in Testing tools and related topics; you also need good logical skills.  You have not mentioned which degree you perused? That’s ok. You should improve your communication skills also; I wish you all the best and bright future.
