I have a "JackRat", myself.  Great dog with tons of personality. Very smart, as well.

Shelly, do you ever have any aggression problems with your dog?

We have a 2 year old jack/rat mix and she is very smart, indeed!  We do also inquire aggression problems with foreign dogs and some men.  But she is a sweet, very calm and obedient dog. She knows many tricks!!!

I just got a Jack-rat terrier and she is 7 weeks old. I am reading about Jack Russell Terriers and also Rat terriers and am curious as to what the combined traits may be. Are they aggressive or eager to please?Do they require an experienced trainer like a Jack Russell?

We have a four year old male (fixed) Jack Russell and rat terrier mix.  His sister looked like a rat terrier.  "SPOT" looks like a jack russell, without the long face hair.   He's certainly the brightest dog we've ever had.  VERY well behaved. NOOOOO bad habits (that we know of), unless being spoiled rotten is a fault he caused versus us.   You wouldn't even believe how smart this dog is.

I just got a six week old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier... what a doll.  He responded to house training in less than two hours, and now asks to go out every time he needs to go.  Took him four hours to recognize his name.  Sweet disposition, and immediately established his place with our two German Sheppards and two male adult cats - fits right in to the family.  What a mix!

Jack Russel and Rat Terrier cross would be great. Try finding a breeder in Canada that even has a Rat Terrier and advertises for it. Close to impossible or I'm just looking in the wrong places. If anyone can actually hock me up with some contacts or reliable web site to find such a breeder please let me know. Jack Russel and Rat Terrier cross!!!!

I also have a Jack Rat and she is my baby doll.  She is the best dog I have ever had.  Easy to house train, very good with commands.  They only problem I have is letting her outside.  She HAS to be on a leash or she will run wild.  Very loving little girl:)
