On a Type 25 (that's the very square combi), if your clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and fluid are okay, then the gearbox primary shaft bearing has failed.  The symptoms are: despite slave cylinder movement engaging the clutch pressure plate there is still drive through the transmission.  Gears are difficult and often crunch, finally cannot even be changed by double de-clutching.
The symptoms come slowly and intermittantly at first until finally the gearbox locks, if you're lucky in a low gear, so you can crunch your way home.

Maybe your clutch cable is broke,or out of ajustment.Pressure plate could be bad and the fork for your throw out bearing could have falling out of place.

Is it your clutch, or is it your gear shift lever that has become disconnected from the shaft?  If the trans in is neutral it could feel like the clutch wouldn't disengage since the shift lever wouldn't seem to go into any gear.  Solution for this is to reattach the shaft back onto the base of the shift lever.

we have some very insensitive people here.
double-clutching can help in the short term.
press the clutch pedal a few times and change gear or hit the clutch to take it out of gear and releasing and hit it again to access another gear.

AS VW's are designed for left hand drive, when they convert their models for right hand drive they run the clutch cable over hot areas such as exhaust manifolds. This causes problems with cables seizing or even melting as in the case of early passats

clutches can sometimes stick together if left standing or are contaminated by fluid of some kind.  one trick is to jack one of the driving wheels off the ground. start the vehicle in gear. the lifted wheel will spin. press the clutch and get someone to drop the vehicle off the jack. the shock can sometimes release the clutch after a few attempts.  obvious caution must be taken. vehicle can lurch off. you and jack could get damaged without good forethought.

first of all, the transporter has a cable actuated clutch lever, so that pretty much blows hydraulics clean out of the water, secondly, a cable can be adjusted underneath the carriage over the transaxle.  If those two things have been done, in addition to checking that your cable isn't siezed in it's housing, you will need to have a clutch job, walk in the park for a transporter.
