I have 1990 Dodge Omni and when I start it up it from cold it will idle at 2500 to 3000 rpm and it will not idle down. This puts lots of stress on the transmison when I put it into gear. Stopping is also more difficult because the engine is always fighting the breaks. Whats going on?

the choke could be sticking or the choke adjuster is adjusted too far down

It does not have a chock as its fuel injection. I would say that its a bad ( idle air control motor)witch is on the side of the throttle body and controls the idle.

I have an 87, 2.2, carb. it has a holly 2bl. if yours has the same, (when facing from front of car), take the air cleaner off and on the right rear of the carb will be a throttle solinoid, on mine it controls my high cold idle, it sounds like yours might be turned up too much or might be sticking. don't know if it helps, good luck.

I'd try kicking the car, then threaten to have it crushed into a cube. If the car doesn't respond to that, you might try swearing at the car.

Some people prefer to take a different approach to auto repair. They'll talk nice to the car. They tell it's that it's a good car, and usually end up pleading with the car to run properly, but I don't recommend this. You have to show that car who's boss.
