I have a 4 year old Male Dal who just had surgury for stones. The vet has told me that he has to be on a prescription u/d diet food for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, at $50.00 for a 30 lb bag, I cannot afford that. Does anyone know of a similar food that is less expensive that I don't have to buy from my vet?  Thank you

I have a 9 yr old that his father had this
problem.  You need to look for food that is very low in protein 18% or less (you can see on the label). I fed him Avoderm original (by Breeders Choice)for years and I am able to control the problem.  Just in the last year I had to change the food do to the dog being a senior and he needed more fiber.  I now feed him Nature's Recipe Allergy.  These foods are more expensive that your usual brands, but the stores do run specials every now and then.  It is much more expensive to have surgery and go to the vet when it has problems.
