SS means elite troops that guarded the Nazi leaders

SS = Shutzstaffel Shutzstaffel- Protection Relay The SS were the leaders of Auschwitz, as well as the Elites in the Third Reich. They were almost like the US special forces. Please note the distinction between them and the Luftwaffe.
