How can I get a harmonic balancer off that's stuck bad enough to break my bolts on the puller? I have a '98  Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have tried everything, but nothing seems to work. I'm worried about breaking the pulley.

weld a 100 foot chain evenly spaced onto the front of the damper pully. attach other end to a 1000 foot crane and begin hoisting it up into the air. at 500 feet drop the engine with the 100 foot chain attached so when the end of the chain comes it will jerk the pully off. Abit hard on your motor though!

Could just use a harmonic balancer puller and a hammer.

There is a special puller that has to be used on this model.  I'm currently doing a rebuild on my car like yours and had the same problem.  Unfortunatley we went through every pulley in the shop we had and even called the dealership who told us a standard three prong type would work, and we chipped it.  We took it down to the welding shop and they welded the piece back on.  Well it broke right off again.  Finally we combined the special puller and a longer bolt and had to use an impact wrench to get it off.  Email me and ill try to get the name of the puller

Did you ever get your harmonic balancer off?  I'm having the same problem.  I'm using a puller and a hammer and a torch and penetrating lube... nothing seems to work.  I've driven the puller about 1/4 of an inch into my Harmonic balancer bolt trying to get that damn thing off.
