My Yorkie's name is Puddles, he is a year old male.  We have had a hard time with seperation anxiety, so we bought him a female companion.  Now even thought he was house broken he is going around marking everything and the puppy did not help his anxiety.  What to do?

I knew someone who had a yorkie,it did the same thing, and u should not let the dog go outide and mark it's territory, and now that the female is there,he is going to mark his terrtory,it is either u get id f him,or put him down it sounds horrble i bawled when mt friend had to put her dog down, but believe me it won't change!!

What!!!  Am I missing something here?  Why would you put the dog down for marking his territory?  All or most dogs do - it's natural.  It takes time for a dog to get use to a new dog - couple of months at least.  If you've given it time, then spend some money on an animal behavorist (trainer) who can work with you on the separation anxiety.  At least read a couple of book on how to deal with the behavior. You could try to do it in steps - first just step outside the door for a few seconds/minutes and return to praise the dog for enduring your absence. Increase the length of time and distance you go each time you step out.  It takes time but I'm sure your dog is worth it.

You should talk to your vet about your dog's separation anxiety.  Often a 'high strung' dog will become a perfect angel with the new dog anxiety meds that are available.  Also, it sounds to me like he's marking his territory just to let the new pup know that he's in charge.  Just watch him for the next couple of months, and when he lifts his leg to mark, distract him with a startling noise (like quickly saying 'Ahhh' in a low loud tone).  This worked really well for my 4 month old yorkie.  If the marking behaviors don't stop, get a trainer, you do not have to kill your doggie just to get it to stop marking!!

This is the most disgusting thing I have heard in a while.  It is completely in humane to put down a dog for marking its territory!  Any vet who would let an owner do this without reporting them to the ASPCA should be reported themselves.  Would you kill a grandparent because they have lost bladder control?!?!?!  I am outraged that you do not see how twisted this is and even suggest that someone else do this to their dog.  Dogs have the ability to learn and there is no reason that training will not fix the problem.  I sincerely hope that no one listens to this kind of sick suggestion.  Please read up on the matter and if necessary, take your yorkie to a trainer.  If you are not equiped to give an informed suggestion, you should not even entertain the thought!!!!!

You certainly dont have to put your dog to sleep because he marks his territory. That's ridiculous! Worst case scenario, find him another good home. I dont have a real answer for you. I just couldn't help but to comment on the suggestion of putting the dog to sleep. That's a horrible alternative for a marking problem! I hope the person who suggested it doesn't have kids!

get rid of him? put him down?, i mean what? whats the matter with people like you
obviously you are a selfish person who doesnt have any idea about dogs or anything at all i feel sorry for you and no one is going to listen to your ideas.  all you have to do is get him nutered and then if that doesnt work get a trainer. my dog is 4 yrs old and he still has accidents all the time and i would never ever give up do dont even consider this idea, im sure that if you do have a dog, you will love him no matter what happens, i wish people wouldnt post comments like that person above, i have no idea where this person came from but thats not to bright. good luck

are you freaking crazy. You put a mini yorkie down because it marked it's territory. You should be put down. It may not be able to be stopped but the dog doesn't deserve to die.
